Geocache of the Month: January 2012

finalcutCongratulations to Idealogy as the inaugral winners of the Geocaching NSW Geocache of the Month award for The Final Cut (GC24C7).

This geocache was placed in October 2001, has been found 74 times (40 DNFs) and has a favourite rating of almost 50%.

According to the geocache description:

Those who complete this cache will be rewarded with spectacular views along the coast from a vantage point few know exist, let alone visit.

The route in can be a bit nerve wracking, but those accustomed to a bit of rock hopping should have no problems, just mind your head in places.

Thank you once again Idealogy - one of the early pioneers of geocaching in NSW - for this fantastic geocache.

Who will receive the award in February 2012?

Help us decide by nominating your favourite geocache. Tell us in around 50 words or more why you think it deserves the award. It doesn't have to be a geocache hiden or found in the past 30 days.

Head to the Geocaching NSW fourm and start nominating.

They are printed on premium-grade white vinyl stock for added strength and durability, using light-fast inks and a UV-resistant varnish to protect them from fading.

Each sticker measures 50 mm x 200mm and is UV and water resistant, so they should handle the great Australian outdoors.

Order a set of Geocaching NSW stickers today from our online store or you can purchase them direct at any Geocaching NSW event.

21st Century Treasure Hunt

sphinxAt our recent AGM, Tiffany Hoy, a student from Macquarie University, came along and spoke with a group of geocachers for a feature she planned to write about geocachers.

The group, which included Calypso62 and Webwitch, invited her along for a group hunt after the event and introduced her to the 'hobby'.

Along with a number of of other interviews and contributions she has put together a great story titled 21st Centruy Treasure Hunt. It's a brilliant story and recommended reading.

Well done to Tiffany - or should we say Epiphany22 - and to the geocachers who helped her with the article.
