Geocache of the Month: May 2012
Congratulations to TooDogs, winners of the May 2012 Geocaching NSW Geocache of the Month award for Gone Fishing! (GC3EY3F).
This 3/1.5 geocache is a recent addition having been placed in March 2012, and has found by 6 teams with a favourite rating of 100%.
The cache is a multi set on the owner's private land, which allows them to be a little more creative than usual.
It has already received rav comments such as :
Definitely one of the best caches I’ve seen. This one is a must for all cachers.
WOW!! I think this is one of the best caches we've done in Australia.
Well done TooDogs, this cache is just amazing!
With feedback like that, we think it's worth highlighting this new geocache - and showing that even newbies can hide a classic cache.
Who will receive the award in June 2012?
Help us decide by nominating your favourite geocache. Tell us in around 50 words or more why you think it deserves the award. It doesn't have to be a geocache hiden or found in the past 30 days.
Head to the Geocaching NSW fourm and start nominating.
State Challenge Cache
Are you looking for a challenge? Geocaching NSW has a challenge for you.
We have launched our Geocaching NSW State Challenge geocache - GC3CA9M.
To log a find on this geocache, hidden in the Blue Mountains, you must have logged a cache in each of the 14 major regions as defined by the Division of Local Government's 'Local Council Boundaries' (www.dlg.nsw.gov.au/dlg/dlghome/dlg_regions.asp)
There is no time restriction. If you've already found a cache in each of the 14 areas, you're already eligible.
Each finder will be added to our Geocaching NSW State Challenge Roll of Honour, as well as the thrill of having geocached around our great state. What are you waiting for?
Geocaching NSW 2012 geocoin
The 2012 edition is now available. It features the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House and is sure to be popular. We have ordered a limited number of these geocoins, so please don't leave it until it's too late to get yours. You can order them through Geocaching NSW online shop or purchase them at the next event.
The coins are trackable and will have their own 2012 custom icon. And like previous geocoins it is minted in a stylish gold metal finish.
Proceeds from the sale of the coins will go towards the funding of the association.
These are sure to become a collector's item being the fourth geocoin made by the association. If you have any of the previous Geocaching NSW geocoins, you won't want to miss out on this one.
Please note: All Geocaching NSW members receive a geocoin as part of their first year of membership (two coins for family memberships).
